Here is Apollo, a sweet-heart of a boy who is deaf and who is looking for a forever home.

His foster mom writes --

" I'd like to tell you all about a wonderful little boy named Apollo.  I first met Apollo when I went to pick up my first pit bull. They were both in the same small little cage together-at about 4 months old.

They'd get fed about one time a day, their food consisted of 2 cups of food with water mixed in (much easier for the caretaker to mix it together than offer 2 separate bowls of course), and the only one who would eat would be the one who could eat the fastest."

"Apollo came from a backyard breeder who didn't want him because he was deaf.  He was on his way to being left in a ditch on the Indian reservation when his current caretaker agreed to take him.

Unfortunately, she hasn't been the best for him.  He made his way to living in a small cage in the basement of her house. "

"He was so frustrated one day he broke his metal cage and was put in a small cage with another unaltered male-and she was surprised when they fought over the one bowl of food she left in the cage for them! (We are still not sure who initiated the fight-but he has never shown aggression towards other dogs even when they growl at him).

This sweet little boy has been living in a cage by himself for the entire year of his life."

"He is lucky if he eats one time a day and if he gets to go outside for more than 10 minutes a day. He doesn't know what it's like to roam the house, or to go for a walk, to be kissed/hugged/loved...

When I brought him to my house for his pictures and his day away from the hell he lives, he was such a cuddle bug, he sat up on my lap the whole ride looking out my windshield pressed right up against my chest.

He had no interest in sticking his head out the window, he wanted to be with me. He LOVES people, and he gets along amazingly well with my female pit bull.  I do believe this little man would get along well with other dogs as long as his new home doesn't expect him to share his food with another dog. "

"He deserves an amazing home with someone who can show him that he can have a wonderful life. I can not imagine how confused he is with being deaf and not being able to be a dog.  I hope someone who has experience with deaf dogs will step forward and be a Apollo's angel.

I will do any necessary transporting to get him the best home possible, and will help with crates, food, or blankets.

Jenn "

Well, against all odds, Apollo is surviving --

-- and he finally has some angels like Jenn on his side.

BUT, this is not a fairy-tale ending yet --

-- and here's where you, the responsible, caring, understanding adopter come in --

-- is he deaf? Sure. Is there obedience for deaf dogs? Sure is.

Is he loving? That is definitely for sure. And that's what matters most.
