I received the following from Lori --

"Hi Eric! These pictures are not great, I will get better ones tomorrow. Blossom is a pit mix with the heart and soul of pure pit! She is the size and build of a pit with I think some shep in there. She is about a year old and loves other dogs. She came in with a dark chocolate male who stands a good chance to reach adoption since he is not as damaged. I have spent 2 full days with her making sure there is no fear aggression with this one like my Godiva had.

Blossom was very obviously beaten for everything she did!

When I first met her, she ran outside of her kennel, smiled that gorgeous pit smile of hers layed on the floor and piddled. I did not know how bad it was until I got her out. She started to act like an excited pup, pulled at the leash then instantly threw herself on the ground flinching as if she deserved a beating. I held her tight, cried and assured her she was safe now.

Well, she does not pull on the leash anymore but watches my every move worried of messing up. She got excited and walked infront of me and I stepped on her paw, the same thing happened. She is scared of toys, treats, anything you hold in your hand. But her response is to slink over tp you and beg forgiveness for an imaginary wrong she never did!!!

I have been given time to build her confidence and try to find a rescue for her. I have not done a real temp test. But I looked at her teeth and have touched her all over. She does have a small wound on her back thigh that looks like a burn.

When I lay on the ground she lays on top of me and then tries to bury herself underneath me... she just cannot get close enough to you. That is why pictures are so hard. I need someone else to take them.

Like Godiva, she is very bonded to me and looks to me for reassurance, but when greeted with someone new, she smiles and piddles. She is such a loyal love that she is just eager to be someones punching bag!!! Now she can finally learn what love is. When unsure, her response is to crawl on her belly, piddle, and wait for the pain. Pain that will never come again!!! I have had my hand in her food bowl, and all she does is put her head there so I touch her not the food.

As far as any restraint goes, I practically smothered her in a body hug when I broke down for her and she just loved it!!! She does not know what to think about these things that feel good. I only have limited time with her as long as we do not get crowded.

I do not even know if you can help, but I am trying all I can with this one!!! Please let me know if you can help! Thank you, Lori

Well, stories like this are enough to bring most people to tears --

-- and for Lori, she has made it her mission to show Blossom that life isn't as she's known it -- and for that, many people are thankful.

Can you take Blossom to the next level? Can you show her love forever? If so, fill out an application above!

Blossom is coming out of her shell -- slowly!

Lori writes --

"She is camera shy. Out of 84 pictures, 12 came out good!! Well, there was others , but not for sharing! I was just trying to get her to smile. In a couple she actually looks really happy!!! I love the ones where her ears are up! I just love those ears!!"

"And her eyes just melt me!! I guess it is a really good thing I have been saving all my love this past month, because she is going to need every last bit of it if she is ever going to heal!! When she starts doing normal babydog things, I will get better pics. Until then I hope you can find some good one to use from these!!!!"

Well, you can really see how Blossom's new environment with Lori is bringing out the beauty in this little lady --

-- and Lori certainly deserves credit here as Blossom's savior --

-- shelter staff often "turns off" after the first few months of work, because the pain is too great in loving dogs and then seeing them euthanised due to conditions beyond their control --

-- well, with Lori, she has been shelter staff for six years, and she loves little Blossom as if she's her first --

-- now THAT is AMAZING -- !!

So, here is out little Blossom, coming out of her shell quite nicely, thanks to Lori and staff --

Lori writes --

"I forgot to send you my favorites! The one where I am laughing and she looks like she wants to attack or run, I am trying to teach her what a kiss is!!! She is starting to get it!!! Maybe one day I will share the other ones that go with that story!!!! Very fun!!!!"

"The other 2, she just looks happy and I love that!!!!"

Well, even at this point, Blossom is a reason for celebration --

-- even if she never makes it out of her shelter alive, she will have felt love and she will never experience abuse again.

Now, there are ways to make this story even MORE rosey -- and that's where you come in -- !!

Do you want to help this little lady grow in to herself? Can you promise her companionship and confidence?

If so, fill out an application above!
