Boo, a lab-pit mix, hails from East Tennessee. His story couldn't have been more a difficult one from the beginning, and he couldn't have been more blessed in the past month...
First off, Boo was seized in Tenn during a raid on a meth lab house... |
... being from a different time, I had to research what a "meth lab house" was. Meth, a cocaine-like drug, gains increased strength (and toxicity) when is it made by "cooking" it (see left). The right shows a tour of a meth house, where dangerous residue often lingers after the "cooking"... |
When Boo was rescued, his rescuer reported this: "The first thing I noticed about Boo was the fact that when I reached out to pet
him he would cower and squint his eyes.... obviously he had been struck often in
his life. " |
She continued that, "Meth lab houses are becoming more common in the rural areas here where lack of education and low income have made them an appealing method of income for the criminally inclined. My estimation is that they obtained Boo thinking he would look intimidating and would guard their illegal operation. " |
Finally, she said, "In an attempt to make him aggressive they probably hit him and mistreated him regularly. When these attempts failed at producing a 'mean dog' they probably just continued to beat him for not being the monster they had hoped. " |
Well, as you can see from the pictures with Thor, Boo passes the sniff test, the mount test, and the breath test -- he loves other dogs, and is great with all people. Sure, he needs a little pat on the head and a little luvin', but that's okay... we all need that now and again! |
Boo has been in foster for the past few weeks. Since then, he is blossoming in to a fine young man. He wags his tail when I hug him, and he likes to sniff the grass outside... all signs that he is forgetting his empty past and is ready to move on to a nice, easy life... |
So, that's Boo -- a gentle giant with a kind heart. |
Boo's rescuer-momma writes:
"He is a wonderful dog and just needs alot of love and attention. I know that he
will get that where he is and it is my hope that the New Year will bring a new
life for this gentle soul, a family that will love and appreciate him and shower
him with all the good things life has to offer. " |
Please consider this dear boy -- think of the blessing he will give you in return -- unconditional love, and trust that will last a lifetime... |
