Here is Buddy, a pit-mix with a fairy god mother, Stacey, who saved him from his demise -- he writes --

"Hi my name is Buddy, but my friends call me meatball and moose. Not much is known about my past other than the bad stuff. You see, I was “dumped” at The University of Akron by someone that decided they did not want to take care of me anymore. I was found by a student on a very cold December day, I had given up hope of surviving and curled up next to a bush to go on to the rainbow bridge."

"The student saw me lying there and came over to see if I was alive when I started wagging my tail she decided that she needed to do something. She took me to the vet and they told her I was emaciated and had frost bite. They fed me, ran some tests, and neutered me because there are way too many good dogs that end up like me. The student took me home and set me up in her garage, she rescues cats and has eight in her house and wasn't sure if I would like them."

"Then she contacted this great rescue group called Smilin' Pit Bull Rescue and my foster mommy got an email asking if she could help. My foster mommy is real great if I do say so myself. She didn't know anything about me, has never fostered before and she still agreed to help me until I find my forever home. She has a pit bull herself and doesn't believe the stereotype that sometimes goes along with my breed. You may know my foster mommy because her kids go to school here. "

"My foster sisters have been really great to me sharing their toys, beds, treats, and best of all, my foster mommy's lap. Whoever decided not to take care of me anymore has really lost out because I am a wonderful boy. I am about 1 ½ years old, completely housebroken, great with dogs, great with kids (even little ones), and curious about cats (only met the one at Willowood and wagged my tail). "

"I am know “sit” and am working on “wait” “down” “come” and more. I've gained 7 pounds in three weeks and now weigh 55.5 lbs. I would love to go to a home with a doggie playmate but I also love lying on the couch next to my foster daddy while he watches football all day. Could you be my forever home? Or do you know someone that wants a great boy like me?"

Well, first off, thank God there are still people like Stacey out there, who are willing and able to take a dog like Buddy in --

-- and secondly, what a WONDERFUL dog he is -- !!

Stacey also writes --

"I brought Buddy to work with me yesterday and snapped a few shots before the camera battery died.  He was so good just playing with his toys and napping on the floor.  There were some landscapers outside my window working on the grounds and he just stood and wagged his tail at them :)"

To me, THIS is the perfect kind of adult dog to adopt -- he has been tested through-and-through in a variety of situations -- in someone's home, with other dogs, with toys, with food, at work, with strangers, etc., etc. --

-- plus, he comes fully housebroken, socialized, and you know how be he'll get -- how big he is -- !!

So, if you're feeling lucky, and also committed to this boy, fill out an adoption application above, and we'll go from there -- !!

THANK YOU, Stacey, for giving this boy the chance of a lifetime -- he deserves it -- !!

After 4 months of fostering...

Well, Buddy has been in his foster home for 4 months now -- a great amount of time to assess him!

Stacey, his foster mom writes --

"This is what I can share for sure
He does not have a mean bone in his body, he is not food aggressive, toy aggressive, or any kind of aggressive. Even when provoked he has never growled or snapped ( I can't say the same for my kids).
"

"He does like to play rough with Sadie but that may be more Sadie's doing than his. He is definitely a lap dog regardless of his now 60 lb weight. His skin feels better, his fur is shiny and healthy and overall his healthy has come a long way.

He is always happy, and living with two bossy sisters that is quite an accomplishment!"

BAHAHA -- It certainly looks like Buddy-boy is having quite the time exploring his feminine side -- !!

-- and he even knows to let the girls WIN!

Here, you'll see a bone in the middle of these two pups -- Stacey obviously knows these two dogs VERY well, because with most pups, this wouldn't be allowed --

-- what a sweet boy -- !!

And Buddy likes to play, and play -- full of it --

-- this is certainly eons from your days of wondering where you were going to find your next meal, huh, Buddy??!!

And as a gentleman does, he makes up after playing with sweetness and kisses -- !!

Stacey is exceptional for what she's done with Buddy -- instead of sitting on the sidelines and watching the heartache of cases like Buddy, she instead took action, and saved his life.

He is obviously very deserving of such kindness, and returns it with his every breath.

Here's the spy-cam shot, where the three pups are enjoying their post-game rest -- !!

So, everything's all set for Buddy --

-- EXCEPT, he needs a HOME --

-- a GREAT home -- !!

This is an exceptional boy who has been poked, prodded, growled at, sat on and pushed around --

-- and he did nothing in return. He has an exceptional temperament and he deserves a wonderful home!

So, amongst the usual suspects, is Buddy Love --

-- are you ready for such a boy? Will you promise him green pastures ahead?

If so, fill out an adoption application above!
