Sophie
Melanie writes -- "I can't say enough good things about this girl! Don't let her pittie looks fool you. She is gentle, sweet, good with kids, adults, other dogs, the mailman, the UPS guy. She is also completely housebroken. Not to mention the fact that she is beautiful!
Sophie came from a shelter in Georgia and I picked her up on the way home from a trip to Florida. She was with her one surviving pup and she was in poor shape."
|
Sophie's pup has been adopted out already, and now it's her turn. She has been treated for kennel cough, worms, fleas, a skin infection, and she has been spayed. She is fully vaccinated. We are still working on her skin, and she has got a few thinning spots still but is improving. The vet thinks that she has a flea allergy and was probably infested at the shelter.
She has been treated with Frontline and this treatment needs to be continued. Sophie has an old injury to her rear leg. She has a surgical scar so at some point she had surgery. However the injury didn't heal correctly, and Sophie doesn't use her leg normally. She has also developed an infection in the femur and is on antibiotics to clear this up. Once this treatment is complete, the vet will decide whether amputating her leg is necessary.
Regardless of whether she ever uses her leg normally again, it isn't causing her pain and she gets along just fine the way it is. She still loves to run and play and can climb the stairs and get up on the couch like any other dog.
|
"She'll be able to do all those things if she loses her leg as well. Sophie is an awesome, sweet, loving girl.
She is probably between 1 and 2 years old and has a long, happy life ahead of her. Her adoption fee is $250.00, and goes toward veterinary expenses."
Well, "special needs" often means "special love" at SPBR, as little Brooklyn showed us here --
-- please give this little lady a closer look -- !!

Charm
Melanie writes -- " Charm is a wonderful, loving dog who is just happy to be alive. This despite the fact that she was dumped at a southern shelter with her five newborn pups, and then had to stand by and watch as they died, one by one, of diseases contracted at the shelter. She then had to sit in a cage at a vet's office for over a month while she awaited transport to Connecticut."
|
"All of this would have broken many dogs, but not Charm. Her spirit is intact and thriving!
She is good with humans, and good with other dogs. My alpha female got into a minor battle with her and Charm held her own, but happily ended it when I grabbed their collars to break it up.
She is co-existing peacefully for the most part with 6 other dogs at her foster home--5 of them females! Charm is fully vetted including spay. She is estimated to be 2 years old.
The shelter she came from listed her as a pitbull mix, but she doesn't look very pittie in person. She has a longer, thinner snout and longer, thinner legs than a pittie. She is also small, at about 30 pounds. "

" She has a beautiful red coat and the most wonderful pink nose and eye rims, with gorgeous amber eyes. This girl will make someone a wonderful pet. Her adoption fee is $250.00."
