Here is Hemi's story, from his foster mom --

"A couple of weeks ago, a young male emaciated pitbull with an abscess on his hip was brought in to the vet I work at by an officer. He was found wandering around. They checked him out and even though he was in severe pain all he did was whine. They were going to put him to sleep because they knew at the pound no one would take care of him.

They do not have an ACO at this time. Someone just goes down and cleans. He needed the abscess flushed 3 times a day and antibiotics. He had a very high fever and he was very dehydrated."

"I told them I would take him. We ended up having to amputate his tail because the infection was so bad. What a sweet boy he is! I named him Hemi, although we really think his name should be Cupcake. He gives lots of kisses.

Even with all the painful treatments and pills down the throat he never gave us any problems. He is well on his way to recovery now.I have had him neutered, vaccinated, dewormed, microchipped, heartworm/lyme tested and started on heartworm prevention. Now the hard part, finding him a loving, responsible home."

"I have 3 pit bull mixes, all rescues, so I know what awesome dogs they are. I would appreciate any help you could give me. He is about a year old and he weighs 53lbs.

He is an excellent dog. He is playful but not crazy. In the house he usually just lays down and chews on a bone or stuffed toy. I had him with my female rotti/pitbull mix yesterday.
Hemi just wanted to play and she told him off. He backed right off and was content to just run along side her.

Thank you for your time.
