Here's little Josie, a stray pit bull found in the city of Buffalo --

-- first look says "BEAUTY" -- !!

Her rescuer writes --

"dear eric,

recently i rescued a female pit (mix?) on a cold rainy day. i believe she is between one and two years old, havent had her to a vet yet, but her weight is good and she seems healthy."

"ive had her for 5 days and she is remarkably sweet, intelligent and well behaved. my problem is that i have four rescued cats and do not have the time to devote to 'blending'
her into the family.

i am desperate to place her in a good home since i made her the promise that her hard times are over. buffalo has far too many dog fighting enthusiasts for me to feel comfortable placing her on my own. i will assist in anyway possible with this process, although my funds are limited, and i have a trip to nyc planned from jan 7th to the 14th."

"i know this is short notice, and i probably can find someone to baby sit her, but ultimately she needs placing in a good home where she will be spoiled rotten and loved to the point of distraction.

i hope you can help. bless u for all your efforts on behalf of these noble beasts.

sincerely
paul
"

Well, first off, the world needs more people like Paul --

-- just look at how his little foster lady loves him, and read at the obvious care he has for her -- !!

Secondly, Josie needs to be in your HOME -- a great home, that is -- !!

She will be spayed, chipped, wormed and updated on her shots, including rabies, before placement. She will also be heart-worm tested.

With all the vetting details taken care of, Josie will be ready to travel --

-- she will be accompanied by a home-visit, and will come full of wags an love.

She can be placed with cats, and the prospective adopter needs to give her time and energy to making her new home great --

-- as Paul said, he " made her the promise that her hard times are over"

So thank you, Paul, for making a world of difference for this little lady -- I am sure you weren't the first person who saw her as a stray and I'm sure you weren't the first person who realized that she needed help --

-- but you were the only person that helped her -- not by taking her to the pound, where she would likely not make it out alive, but you took her in to your home -- a great first step for her!

NOW, the next step comes with YOU, the potential adopter -- !!

Can you promise Josie the next 13 years? Will you show her how good people can be? If so, fill out an application above!

January fostering update!

Well, Josie was and is blessed, in the nick of time --

-- pictured at left is Roxie, whose mom saw Josie on pbsmiles -- and who stepped outside her comfort zone to help this girl -- !!

Roxie herself is a rescue from a high-kill urban shelter, and is an exceptional girl -- with the temperament of a princess, and pretty to boot -- !!

Roxie's mom, who can be seen her with prior fosters, writes --

"Oh my-what a cutie she is! Very well behaved - Roxie allows her to roam the house freely, as long as she doesn't roam too close to me! Roxy very protective and won't leave my side. It's actually funny. No-one gets too close to her mama!

Josie OK in crate-a littly crying at first - then fell asleep. Only knows basic commands when my husband tells her. Must be a man thing. "

"Maybe she is just on extra best behavior because it is her first day here. LOL!! She seems very young, or she is a midget! Anyways, all is well and we are truly enjoying her. Some things happen for a reason, if you know what I mean. Fate. Thanks"

She then writes --

" Well, she won our hearts - crate now upstairs in computer room. Roxy is sleeping next to it with her. She doesn't like to be alone.

Oh-only paper trained. She doesn't know how to say OOOuuuuut yet! Rox wants to be near her, but not "with" her. Oh, new name is Kaycee (that is the name of my granddaughter's imaginary friends - and what she wanted to name her new baby sister)"

Well, thank you, Roxie, momma and poppa for your generosity in helping little Josie / Kaycee --

-- are YOU interested in furthering this girl's luck? If so, fill out an adoption application above!

Josie's February 2006 fostering update!

I stopped by Elaine's over the weekend to check up on little Josie, and I couldn't have been happier --

-- Elaine is loving this girl 24/7, and it shows --

-- little Josie has also proven herself a sweetheart in Elaine's world, getting along great with Elaine's grand-kids, and also Elaine's Roxy --

Here's Roxy and Santa --

-- Elaine's fostering situation is sort of like walking in to a dream for me --

-- she spends SO much time with these dogs, and socializes them so well, that everything works like clock-work there --

-- everything works, and everyone's happy --

-- even her feline friends --

-- so, we have two female pit bulls and 3 cats under one roof --

-- and not a peep amongst them -- !!

Although, sometimes it's hard to tell who's the predator and who is the prey -- !!

Next, it's time for walkies --

-- Elaine works on Josie constantly, as seen here, having her earn the walk with a "sit" --

-- and within moments, we're in Josie's outdoor world --

Josie says,

"Eric, I'm glad you like it out here, but it's coooolllldddd at 17 F -- let's go in and get some snacks"

So off to the gate we go --

-- and within moments, we're indoors again, and Josie's adoring Elaine --

-- note the loving lean Josie gives to Elaine -- this is sort of when you know you've "got it" with a dog --

-- they love you and they show it by leaning on you -- !!

Next, to the sofa, for some pets and wags --

-- but little Roxy is about as shy and demure as a butterfly, and within moments she finds refuge behind the baby swing -- !!

So, with that, our visit is done --

-- again, I can't say how proud I am to have foster homes like Elaine's --

-- she took in Josie with open arms, and exposed her to a lot of worlds --

-- and Josie excelled.

All this hard work pays off for YOU, the adopter --

-- you're getting a proven dog that has been through many situations, and who has come out shining.

Now the question is, can YOU do Josie the honor of being her forever home, commiting to her for 13 years, and giving her the unconditional love she is awaiting to show you?

She only deserves such love, as do you.

If so, fill out an adoption application above -- !!
