The short 16 weeks Lolli has been alive have been awful -- but she'll never show you that...

I received this email tonight, June 28th, about a beaten 16-week old puppy in NYC, Lolli-pop --

"I gave your name to a guy who is fostering a baby girl pitbull who was hit very hard on the head with a baseball bat.

She is a medical case -- in true pitbull fashion, she's joyous and beautiful and had great energy and can leap around but does fall when she leaps too high. She also has neurological damage and her mouth has been smashed shut. Can pant, can eat (sort of, in tiny amounts..I broke her meals down to four tiny offerings and she ate and kept it down).

I think she needs to live out her life (she's 4 months old) in a peaceful, loving place and thought you might be able to put her foster father in touch with the sanctuary for abused and injured animals that you've taken dogs to in the past.

She was rescued by Stacy Alldredge, the great trainer in Chelsea who runs Who's Walking Who? on 9th Avenue. Stacy bought her from some lady who'd been dragging her around the projects for a week and who wanted $200 for her (Stacy paid $50 to rescue her)"

From the pictures, Lolli had some sort of trauma to the left-side of her face --

-- he writes:

"This is regarding a 4 month old pit that was beaten pretty badly. i am doing my best to foster her but I think she needs more than I can offer her. You seem to do wonderful work with the dogs in your care and I am wondering if this little angel would fit in at your facility."

He continues --

"Please let me know what you think.

She is the one with the blue collar, the other one is mine.
"

He writes in a separate email:

"She has been to the vet and all her bloodwork is good. She does have a funny walk due to the trauma however (and I feel guilty admitting this) it kinda makes her cuter."

I am trying to get in touch with Justin to get more details on this baby --

-- this shows the unfortunate reality humans can show to animals --

-- if you are interested in making a difference for this girl through fostering or adoption, please fill out an adoption application above --

-- prior to fostering or adoption, she will will receive full veterinary care --

August 2005 update!

Well, the little girl is growing up --

-- her foster momma writes:

"I have interviewed several people for Gloria but haven't yet found the right home -- if you could please update her info that would help

Name: Gloria
Age: 9 months
Breed: Female pit
Notes: special needs - must be fed 4 times a day
"

Okay, so now her name is Gloria, and she looks WONDERFUL --

Look at her here, being a little lady --

-- she appears to be adjust well to her prior trauma, too, as she grows up -- that's a good sign -- !!

So, with Gloria being a young lady, she says, "I STILL NEED A GREAT HOME -- !!!"

Interested? Want to be the mother (and father) this girl never had?

If so, fill out an application above!
