Here's baby Millie, a 16-week old pit bull puppy who is in need of a great home.
Her rescuer writes --
"I am a volunteer at the local Animal Welfare Society. The ACO had a pitbull puppy surrendered to them this past weekend and has been diagnosed with dermotecdic manage. The poor puppy's face is full of it.
The ACO has taken "Millie" to the vet, gotten her dipped, treatment of ivermectin, anitibiotics and prescribed dips and goodwinol ointment."
|
"Neither the pound nor our facility is set up to give this kind of medical treatment for this puppy. She should not be around other dogs and not in the stressful environment of the city pound or our shelter which is set up the same way.
We are hoping to find a group or adopter that can take this puppy and nurse her back to health. The ACO has until the end of the week before a decision needs to be made about her.
Millie is a 4 month old very sweet little girl that is in good health otherwise."

Well, little Millie is almost out of the woods -- imagine the past months she must have had -- poor girl!
Demodex mange is the "good" type of mange, in mange-talk. It is not like its evil step-sister, sarcoptic mange, that is transmissible to humans and to other animals. Demodex mange, however, is not usually contagious.
Demodex mange is an infestation of mites on the dog's body, which eat the dog's fur and skin. This infestation is usually caused by poor diet, etc., but can easily be overcome by treament and proper care. Also, it rarely re-occurs, once treated effectively.
More on demodex mange can be found here.

To show you how effective today's treatments are for demodectic mange, here is Yoda --
-- Yoda came to SPBR last summer in horrible shape -- thrown from a car, and with a bad mange infestation.
His story can be found here.
So, enough of the "before" -- on to the "after" -- !!
|
Here's the "after" -- a few short months after treatment --
-- astounding huh?
|
|
|
Well, Yoda needed the final step, too, which he got --
-- a great forever home in Upstate New York with his proud parents, and Earl, another SPBR rescue!
|
So, on to little Millie --
-- her situation is critical mostly from a timing stand-point --
-- she is only 4 months old, and will likely be euthanised after this weekend if help through a foster or adopter doesn't come forward.
She will need some nursing and care, and the supplies will come with her -- as will any expenses you will have with your local vet for their supervision. All you have to provide is LOVE and responsible CARING!
As with all SPBR pups, too, she will come spayed, microchipped and up to date on wormings and vaccinations.
WHAT AN OPPORTUNITY TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE!
