Peaches wants only the perfect of homes -- can you provide it??

Well here's the story of baby Peaches and baby Oscar, who were a Southern rescue --

-- their foster momma writes --

"Little Peaches was born on September 3, 2004 the runt of her litter in a rural shelter in east Tennessee . Peaches momma, Nina, had a very hard time with her babies…. five were born dead and Nina was in labor for almost two days."

"The shelter staff did not know what to do for her so they just waited… lucky for Nina and the babies a local rescuer (who just happened to have a Bully of her own at home!) spotted them when picking up a Lab puppy. Momma Nina, baby Peaches, and the rest of the litter were whisked to safety."

"Peaches and her siblings grew into happy, healthy, little bully pups. They ate and slept and pooped and peed and played and had a grand time, and over the course of a few months everyone found great homes."

At left, is baby Oscar, as he tries to affirm some manly traits -- sorry, Oscar -- it isn't gonna work in that basket -- !!

And next is Peaches, crawling in to the world...

Here is baby Oscar at around 12 weeks --

-- and Peaches at the same age.

So next, Oscar and Peaches were placed in suburban Mass., in a home with a senior female.

Usually, I am a proponent of placing siblings together, if the family is fully committed to the placement and the responsibilities of having two pups. This includes commitment to crating the pups when unattended, and never leaving them unsupervised.

Placing female/female, however, I am not a fan of -- females tend to be tougher when placed together, and issues offten occur.

A year later, we received a call that Peaches and the senior female got in to a spat, and that the family could no longer keep Peaches. Initially, I was upset, but I understood their reasoning --

-- this is a family with two kids, both parents working, and three dogs. To me, this is too much stress, considering Peach and the senior female had recently squared-off.

So, I offered to help them with Peaches' placement, and that's where we are now.

To the right is my primary mode of dog-transporting -- it ain't pretty, but it sure is efficient -- :D

So, we arrived at the Mass shelter, not quite knowing what to expect with Peach --

-- and we found ourselves a beauty.

She's grown up now, and very pretty. She is likely a pointer / pit mix, and is very demure and sweet.

She's not that big -- maybe 45 pounds, and likes human interaction --

-- she will follow your lead on a walk, and is always looking for affirmation from her handler.

Here she is, saying good-bye to her momma. I support this surrender, since now the senior female and Oscar can be integrated in to the busy household --

-- and Peaches can be placed as an only dog.

Should this have been the case initially? Absolutely. A lot of people learned a lesson from this situation, and we are trying to make it better for all the people and pups involved.

Peaches has also been raised with a cat, and she is fine with them -- a big plus.

"Peaches is super sweet and is actually very shy and timid when first meeting new people.

She has had a few rough spots in her road of life and is now looking for just the right family."

I think she deserves just that --

-- a home without any other pets or small children, but instead loving, caring, committed adults with perhaps teenagers --

-- and a cat, if you'd like -- !!

So, this girl is only a year old. She is a sweet-heart and she is needing a home forever --

-- can you commit to her? Can you imagine the fun-filled days with her as an only pet?

If so, fill out an application above!

Happy at home, is little Peaches (aka Lucy)

Well, here was our girl for the first months of her fostering --

-- HAPPY and such a LADY with her boyfriend Victor!

So, with that, we posted her, and waited -- and worked with Karyn in NJ to place her -- and here's what she got...

-- another couch potato job -- !!

Not all bad, in a way -- !!

Her momma, Meg, writes --

"Hi Eric!!
Well, since August 8, 2006, my husband and I have been truly blessed with our baby Lucy.
"

"In that short time, Brian (hubby) and I were both laid off when we were working for the same company. This precious gift helped us see what really mattered... Now Brian has a great job where he can bring Lucy in a few days a week and I am working at a local veterinarian office - Great care for Lucy at discount! She is such an amazing dog. I just finished e-mailing Karyn some pictures (attached for you to see too of course!) of her progress. She is so great in the car - we were able to travel a lot with her over the holidays - she jaunted from Belleville , NJ (home) up to Lake George , NY (grandma) to Point Pleasant , NJ (other grandma) up to Bangor , Maine (grandpa).

She loves it up in Maine - she just runs in my dad's huge yard and plays for hours... she is the best!! "

"When we first got her she was very unsure of everything and she has truly grown into a member of our family. She always wagging her tail and hoping we will cuddle and play with her. I know it was a bumpy road in the beginning, but I am so glad she took the path she did that led her to us."

"Here are some cute pics of Lucy from the past few months - including a shot from our Christmas card!!

Thanks so much for your e-mail Eric, I am going to log onto the forum now, it's been too long!!

Thanks again, Meg"

So, it looks like ms. peaches / lucy certainly has found her place in Meg's and Brian's world --

-- from what Meg writes above, and from Peaches' photos, these are IDEAL ADOPTERS -- !!

So, I am glad I took that call from Summer last January to help Peaches -- I knew she was a good girl, andI knew she deserved more chance than the kill shelter she was in --

-- THANK YOU to Meg, Karyn, Summer and Brian for your believing in this girl -- she is now MADE -- !!
