Here is sweet Polar girl. Her rescuer writes --
"The story about Polar, the pit bull from Arkansas, is a very sad and all too common. Pit bulls, by nature are one of the most dedicated breeds to his/her owners. It is because of this allegiance that owners/handlers are able to teach them to be aggressive toward other animals or humans. If left untarnished by ill treatment or bad breeding, they the most dedicated and loving family dog.
Polar was fed by a back yard breeder in a pen made of hog wire. The next time when she went to feed Polar, 2-3 days later, she found Polar with her back foot tangled up in the hog wire. When her foot was untangled the lady and her husband saw the foot had no feeling and was cold. They didn't bother taking her to the vet. They just left her there where Polar chewed her foot off because she had no control over it. Thankfully, A rescuer took Polar in and is fostering her until a loving home cam be found. If the right home is found in the northeast, her rescue will facilitate a transport from Arkansas. Miracles do happen!
Polar is 2 years old. She is really good with other friendly dogs, male and female. She likes to play with other dogs but can be a little bossy to little breed dogs. She doesn't hurt them but makes sure they know she's the boss. With big dogs her size, she just plays :) I think she would be good in a home with another very friendly dog. Females are best places with males OR she would be good as an only dog. She LOVES people and will whine if she can't be where the people are. She loves to sit and be petted for as long as you have the time.
Because of the number of dogs at the foster's home, Polar lives outside but has not soiled in the home on her few visits inside. We do not know if she would be good with cats or not. When she was at the horrible place where she lost her foot, her best friend was a 400 pound pig. She would sleep with him and play with him. She also licked him like she was taking care of him. When we went to get her away from that horrible place, she cried for her best friend, the pig....... so sad!!!
Polar is a wonderful girl and needs a 2nd chance at life. She is also good with kids and lives with the foster's 10 year old son who plays with her. She will run after tennis balls, but she just likes the running and picking them up, not the bringing them back, lol.

Well, if we want to be negative about this, we can be --
-- but where would that get us -- nowhere!
Instead, let's focus on the POSITIVE --
-- Polar is in good hands now, she is proving herself to be a little lady, she is NOT deaf, so far as we know, and she just needs ONE great HOME --
-- too hard to do? We think not -- !!
If you're interested in elevating this girl to who she deserves to be, and if you're interested in being a responsible, caring adult in owning Polar, even spoiling her a bit...

Polar comes home to Marlo and Ron's!
|
Well, the unthinkable has happened -- happily --
-- Polar has found a great forever home!
Marlo and Ron, of Ohio, saw her on SPBR, and joined our forum, pbsmiles.
From there, they submitted an application, and Stacey, also of the forum, did their home visit.
Then started the co-ordination with Tammy in Arkansas, who was Polar's guardian angel --
-- and the rest is history!
This past weekend, Polar made the long flight to Ohio, where she met her new brother, Kaos, at left, in the airport -- !!
|
Here's our girl with her new mom, Marlo -- you can tell Polar took to her quite quickly -- !!
Marlo writes --
"Hi Eric! Wow! What an excited weekend! I was so nervous on Friday when I got the email from Polar's foster mom saying that she was definitely coming on Saturday. It seemed like it took forever for the day to finally arrive and now it was here!
I was mostly nervous because I didn't know how Kaos would react to another dog in the house. He's been the only child for almost 8 years now!"
|
|
|
"I was also nervous because we had never met Polar, we were going by her picture and a few kind words from people that we've never met. All my nervousness just seemed to disappear the minute I layed eyes on this sweet little girl!
When they brought her crate into the cargo area and we saw the shadow of her little head looking around I knew immediately that we were doing the right thing!"
|
"I couldn't wait to get her out of that crate and let her stretch her legs! She took to Ron almost instantly. She kept looking back at him to make sure he was behind us still as we walked to the car. She sealed the deal on the way home when she gave him a big fat wet kiss!" |
|
|
"I promise to keep you up to date with her progress. She's going to see our vet tomorrow just to be sure that she's got a clean bill of health before she interacts with Kaos too much. I think she'll gain weight easily...she eats like a horse. I'm thinking that once she is on a proper diet and puts on weight she'll walk better too."
|
"She is a trooper that's for sure! You can just tell that she's had a rough life already and now it's time for her to relax and enjoy the rest of her life. We will take care of her and spoil her just like Kaos! Thanks again Eric!!!"
Well, little Polar was pretty TIRED over the past weekend -- imagine the new world she saw -- going from living in a pig's pen to flying up North -- !!
|
|
|
Here she is, coming out of her shell a bit to enjoy some treats -- |
-- and she's even looking for more -- !! |
|
|
So, here they are, Polar, Kaos, Marlo and Ron --
-- a real happy ending -- and one I thought I would never see --
-- I mean, look at poor Polar in her Arkansas picture -- and her story is so sad --
-- the more sad thing is she was posted here for a few months with no applications and then, just like that, she gets an EXCEPTIONAL one -- !!
|
Polar's quite smitten by the whole experience, you can tell --
-- just look at the life and happiness in her eyes -- !!
|
|
|
And what's her future going to bring?
Well, many hours of watching her Dad, Ron, play Madden football on X-Box, that's for sure --
-- and that's not at all bad -- !!
|
So here's our Ms. America -- home, happily.
And this success wasn't possible at ALL but for the wonderful help of Tammy and Sandy in Arkansas, Stacey in Ohio, and finally Marlo, Kaos and Ron in Ohio --
-- GREAT WORK, ALL -- you've done a wonderful thing by this girl --
-- and we look forward to many updates as she continues to thrive in her new home -- !!

Enter Polar, the Princess!
|
Well now, it looks as if Christmas came early for little Polar --
-- marlo writes --
"polar got a new sweater today!
she's such a princess..."
|
"and just because kaos HAS to be in a picture..."
What I really love about these pictures is the personality that comes through on ms. Polar's face -- she shows that she's really comfrotable and settled in her home, and she looks thankful -- thankful for such great people as Marlo and Ron, and thankful for brother Kaos to have accepted her as well as he did.
GREAT WORK ALL!
