Sampson comes from a rescuer I have known for years, and who does great work -- she writes --

"Can you make a page for Sampson? I LOVE this foster. He's with me right now, he will be learning to get along with my crew, I hope. He's such a good boy with a Mom who hit a rough spot.

I normally do not foster, but couldn't let this sweet guy suffer. So, he's hanging at my house now... if the perfect home comes along for him, then he can have his dreams come true."

"I used to have a wonderful life

I used to have a Mom

I used to have a brother named Max

I used to have a home

---

I don't know what happened

But things changed one day

Mom came home, and Max was gone

And then we drove away"

 

"We spent a lot of time in Mom's truck

Parked outside of someone's home

She said all we needed was a little luck

And that she'd find me a good home

---

I didn't understand, I thought she meant her too

Then one day, she drove me to a place

Where there were two other dogs

They told me I would not again see her face"

"I was scared, and I was angry

I wanted my Mom to come get me

I moped about, not playing much

When folks came to feed, they'd see me

---

They'd see how sad I was

And they would call Mom

I prayed and prayed

That she would come"

"Then one day, she came, and we played

She hugged me, and I kissed her

But then she put me back in the kennel

Instead of in the truck with her

---

I was sad again, but I just knew

My mom would come back again

The other dogs were wrong about her

She is my very best friend"

"Mom came late that night,

She packed me up, and we drove away

We drove really far, and I fell asleep

But when I woke up, Max was in the back seat!!

---

I was so happy, I missed my brother Max so

I barked, and he barked, and Mom drove through the rain

We all stayed in a camp that long rainy night

Mom woke up early, and we went out to play"

"Then Mom packed me back up in the truck

We went to meet a family who might want to keep me

They saw me, and pat me, and said I was cute

Then they took me in their truck, and Mom couldn't see me

---

But the family won't keep me, at least not forever

And Mom is now trying to find me another

A family to love me, a family to house me

I'm a really good pup, you won't find another

---

Not quite like me anyway, I'm very unique

I would be a wonderful pet, for someone who

Does not already have a dog, or a cat

Or any small children? Could it be YOU?

If you only want me for a short time, that's ok too

Mom wants me back, when she gets on her feet

I don't know when that will be

(But I hope it's next week)

So, if you want a pup that is smart as a whip

Who knows how to stay, give paw and sit

Who can lay down, and catch treats in my mouth

If so, look no further, because I am IT."
