Well, Shakira's story says it all -- people can be tough -- will you prove to her otherwise?

Her shelter staff writes:

"Shakira passed her temp test with a level 3 bc she is deaf and bc she is possessive with her rawhide.  She is a 7 yr old white pit bull female who is deaf.  She is also on the bigger side-60-65lbs. 

She was sadly surrendered to us bc her previous guardians children had lost interest in her and the woman did not want to care for her.  Shakira did not deserve this!  She is a pretty girl with a few black spots on her ears and on her nose.  Although she is deaf she does know and respond to hand signals!  What a smart girl!"

"She is also a laid back dog-nothing really seems to bother her.  She appears to be fine with other dogs and I believe she is fine with cats as well.  She does get excited to go for walks and she does pull a bit but this kind of shelter environment eats away at the animals.  I think she is a pretty easy dog to deal with. 

She has lived with children so she can live with children older than 7yrs. If someone has the time for her I just know she would give you all the love her whole body could give!  Since she already knows hand signals all her new owner would have to do is learn the hand signals-Shakira is already one step ahead! "
