What a difference a year makes!!
Well, here's the journey of little Kiwi, one of seven litter mates and a momma I rescued back in January of 2004 from a NJ shelter.
Here he is, at a day old...
Here's the litter and momma-Gwynn's butt -- they're just about as tiny as could be -- !!
Gwynn was found a stray by Animal Control, running the streets, pregnant, of a high-fighting neighborhood.
Thank God all her puppies and she made it through that ordeal.
Here's the proud momma, with
her pups at around 4 weeks -- |
And here's the K-man, just before his whole world changed... |
THERE we go, Kiwi -- now you can see with those beautiful eyes -- !! |
Next, enter Kate and Jody, from Albany, NY... who drove a good 3-1/2 hours to see their boy...
... their story was a Petfinder match-made-in-heaven... |
Jody says, "I love you" --
-- Kiwi says, "I love you more"
And with that, the deal was sealed, and we went to the next step of the adoption process... |
Not before, mind you, we had a little Thor-play, and the babies had some fun with my then-baby Thor... |
Next, the home visit... all looked good... |
And Kiwi said, "Oh, I knew this would work out -- !!" |
When adopters are all smiles and giggles, I know we're at the right place...
... with that, Kiwi stayed with Jody and Katie, and I drove the 3-1/2 hours back to Stamford, all smiles...
Well, pass by a year, and here's where the celebrating begins --
-- here's pictures of "little" Kiwi in Feb 05 --
-- MAGNIFICENT --
In the past year, I have learned so much.
Everyone loves puppies, and everyone loves adopting them...
... not everyone, however, is committed to the full-deal, and "cute little puppies" who often become chewers, barkers, etc. are dumped in the shelter as unadoptable adults, and their fate is death.
Well, this is NOT so with Kiwi -- Jody and Kate have done WONDERS with him, and he is an example of the magnificance of this breed... |
So there we have it, Kiwi is home, forever, and loved and loving --
-- I am so proud!
Thank you, Kate and Jody, for being such great adopters, and for making this rescue a true happy ending... |
... little Kiwi has come a long, long way, and he deserves it -- many wonderful people have made his life a beautiful one, and he has returned the favor every step of the way -- |
