Turtle has certainly found his pot of gold at the end of the rainbow!! |

Here's the story of little Turtle, a not-so-puppy pit bull who came to SPBR at 20 weeks from a city shelter where he and his two brothers, Onyx and Plato, couldn't seem to find good homes --
The volunteer called me and said, "I'm sad -- the shelter has never had to put puppies down before, and I think these three will be their first" --
-- not if WE could help it! I took in all three boys and found them wonderful homes -- here's the story of dear Turtle --

On our home-visit journey, we loaded up the trusty Civic with the babies and their gear --
-- on this trip, the 3 brothers and China's litter were going to their forever homes --
-- this is a far cry from Turtle's prior "life" where words of gangs, drug-raids, and other low-life activities were quickly vanishing from Turtle's vocabulary -- !!

-- upon arrival at Turtle's home, we know he's going to be spoiled like a prince --
-- always a great start -- !!
|
Next, I meet the family, Cindy and her husband, plus their two daughters --
-- they're great people -- a young family that loves this breed.
Cindy's husband is a steel-worker in New York City and commutes over 1-1/2 hours each way, just to give his family the home and life he wants for them --
-- again, great people --

Cindy meets Turtle, and he's a prince -- |
-- next, Cindy explains to her daughter the ins- and outs- of puppies --
-- while Turtle thinks, "YUMMM -- I'd like to lick her -- !!"

|
Next, the picture tells the story, and we have a happy ending in progress -- !! |

-- and all works out --
-- now Turtle is one of the girls, and he doesn't mind it -- !!

Next, the fairy-catcher -- |

-- and Turtle becomes the fairy, getting a good chase around the room -- |
-- not if he can help it -- !!
The tables turn, and our boy has declared his keep --
|

|
-- as he runs back to his home-base, he can't help but show pride in his walk -- |
-- and he sits on his fleece with his new toy --
-- the forbidden fruit always have the secret charm, and Turtle finds this out early -- !!
|

|
Everyone laughs at him... that is, after the fairy-catcher is put on top the refrigerator -- !! |
So, there's Turtle -- very loved and loving --
-- and as you can see here, up to typical puppy mischief -- !!

Thank you, Cindy and family, for taking this otherwise unwanted boy in to your home --
-- you gave him the chance of a lifetime, and he loves you dearly for it.

Three month update!
At three months, Cindy send pictures of out boy, and said, "I want another pit bull for Turtle -- !!"
I spoke with her a lot about it, and emphasized he is not full-maturity yet, and while two pit bulls is fun and the like, it's a LOT more responsibility with crating, watching them, etc., and with the girls and her other things to watch (including Turtle!), for everyone's sake, why not just focus on making Turtle the BEST dog he can be, through obedience and good behavior --
-- and she agreed -- !!

She writes --
"Hi Eric, This is pictures of Turtle AKA Scooby or The super Duper Scoober Doober!!!
He is doing just great. He is sweet and loveable. He really is wonderful with the kids. They really pick on him and he is really great about it.
