The last 2 of Lila's 12 went home!! |
Here's the story of the last two placements of Lila's loves, a momma and her 12 puppies who came to rescue in Fall, 2005... |
First, we start out in downstate New York, in New Rochelle... |
The puppies go on parade, and grandpa gives his "yay" or "nay" --
-- he gave quite a few "yays" -- !!
Little Phoebe wins everyone over with her sweetness --
-- these babies are 5-1/2 months now, perfect for obedience and plenty of human interaction -- !!
Next, Phoebe goes through grandpa's rigors --
-- and PASSES -- !!
Well, you can always tell a great home by their refrigerator -- !!
Here you have an All-American family, and if you look very close, you'll see an All-American family with pit bull experience -- priceless!
Their prior girl died of health ailments, and then the family adopted a puppy from the pound, that showed parvo one week in to adoption -- they did all they could to save the pup, and finally the pup succumbed.
Now they want to save another...
... and Phoebe is quickly proving herself a favorite -- sweet and playful --
-- that's a good combination for an active home with young boys --
-- and Phoebe can be momma's little girl -- !!
So, Phoebe is a bit overwhelmed with her spoils --
-- she's gone from a cold shelter floor to a leather sofa --
-- great work, girl -- !!
With that, we're off to see her new dad -- |
Phoebe's dad is a fire-fighter, so we go to the fire hall to give him a run-by -- |
-- and Phoebe wins over the other fire-fighters, too, with her sweetness -- |
-- now she meets dad, and she's more concerned with who-dropped-what on the kitchen floor -- !! |
-- he says, "you're sweet" --
-- she says, "do I smell beef jerky?"
So with that, Phoebe has found her place --
-- and her nose keeps searching for that lost link of jerky -- !!
Let the memories begin, dear Phoebe, and be proud of how far you've come --
-- and thank you to Judy and family for being ideal adopters of this lovely breed, and for not giving up after your tough experience with parvo --
Next, we're off to central New Hampshire, for Stella to see her starlight...
Stella falls in to the home pretty quickly, finding toys and bones... |
Well, they had to come out -- BABY PICTURES -- !!!
Here's Phoebe at the left, and Stella at right, at two weeks --
-- AWWWW!!!
Next, Stella meets little Bodie, her new brother, and play bows are in order.
Lori, Bodie's mom, had a rescued pit female, Molly, till a few months back --
-- Molly was challenged with the equivalent of canine AIDs and succumbed in November --
-- now Bodie and everyone want to brighten up their home with a new baby, and little Stella might just fit that order -- !!
Let the races begin -- !! |
And these two did WONDERFULLY -- !!
Multiple-dog placements can be tricky -- the adopters have to be very responsible, and willing to crate the dogs separately when unattended --
-- further, items like bones, etc., need to be negotiated -- here, Bodie didn't give a hoot about his bones, and instead cared more about his new sister!
Finally, pit bulls grow in to their temperaments between 1 and 2 years, sometimes showing dog aggression --
-- for that, I am a fan of placing pit-mixes, not 100% pits, in to multi-dog households --
-- with the mixes, I have found less an occurrence of dog aggression at adulthood, as compared to 100% pits --
So, with that, Stella's home, and Bodie's happy -- as are Lori and family --
-- both pups are altered, and up to date on shots and wormings --
-- great work, Stella and Bodie --!!
So, with that, Lila's 12 babies are home --
-- and Lila, your efforts were not in vain -- I did everything I could to get your kin in the best homes possible --
-- now you can watch down on them and see them through their wonderful lives --
-- your efforts were not in vain.
